On July 16, 2007, the Latin American Energy Organization (OLADE) will open the doors of its Virtual Training Program to professionals from private entities, international bodies and institutions specialized in energy who are interested in improving and updating their knowledge.

The Latin American Energy Organization (OLADE) with the support of the Ministry of Economy of El Salvador and the Ministry of Energy and Mines of Brazil is organizing the II Latin-American and the Caribbean Biofuels Seminar, which will take place on September 26-28, 2007 in San Salvador-El Salvador.

OLADE made important adjustments in the presentation, structure and language of its web page, which will lead to an easy access to information and interaction in two languages (English and Spanish) with Member Countries and institutions, enterprises and those interested in acquiring products and services from the Organization..

A study with data to 2005, recently concluded by the Organization, regarding fuel subsidies in Latin America and the Caribbean, shows that these grants represent approximately 2.2% (USD 25,629 MM) of Regional GDP. According to the case study applied to Ecuador, the percentage of subsidies with respect to GDP is one of the highest in the Region, approaching 6.7%.
A mechanism for targeting LPG subsidies, protecting the most deprived social groups, would save Ecuador more than USA 322 MM in subsidies.  (Series: Artículos Técnicos Edition 3).
