The Latin American Energy Organization (OLADE) discussed the possible cooperation with the Water Center for the Humid Tropics of Latin America and the Caribbean (CATHALAC) with the aim of strengthening regional and subregional capacities for sustainable energy development in the region.
At the meeting held on June 25, 2009, in Panama, between the Executive Secretary of OLADE, Carlos A. Flórez Piedrahita, the Director of Integration, Erick Cabrera Castellanos and the General Director of CATHALAC, Emilio Sempris, it was agreed to evaluate the possibility of a framework agreement between the two international entities to work on the alternative energy sources, as well as on actions and strategies to reduce the vulnerability of the energy sector to the impacts of climate change and its mitigation measures.
Additionally, it was considered the possibility of technical cooperation among information energy systems of OLADE and the Regional Visualization and Monitoring System (SERVIR) developed by CATHALAC.
