From November 28-30, 2007, the Regional Energy Integration Forum (FIER 2007), in parallel to the Congress 2007 of the Regional Energy Integration Commission (CONCIER) and the Electric Sector’s International Fair (FISE), will take place during the Latin American and the Caribbean Energy Week 2007.

The presentation of the Energy Week was held on November 8, 2007 in Medellin-Colombia. This event was headed by the Mayor of the city, Sergio Fajardo Valderrama, who manifested that the Energy Week in the capital of Antioquia will bring a lot of benefits to the Colombian energy sector.

On the other hand, Byron Chiliquinga, the acting Director of Planning and Projects of OLADE, explained that FIER 2007 is a strategic action that aims to "promote and support the regional and sub-regional energy integration of Latin America and the Caribbean"

The name of the main topic to be covered at FIER is “From Planning to Action: Regional and Sub-regional Energy Integration” and it will count with the attendance of key authorities in the energy sector of Latin America and the Caribbean, representatives of the government, representatives of public and private companies, international and multilateral bodies, investors as well as specialists and social agents involved in the energy sector of the Region.

During the closing ceremony of FIER and the other events that make up the Energy Week of Lain America and the Caribbean, the Medellin Statement will be read, which will be emitted at the XXXVIII Meeting of Ministers of OLADE to be held in the capital of Antioquia on November 30. The meeting will bring together key energy authorities from the Ministries and Secretariats of Energy of the 26 Member Countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.
