OLADE´S CARIBBEAN OFFICE PROJECT
- At the XXXVII Meeting of Ministers of OLADE, held in Mexico on September 8th 2006, it was instructed to modify the General Rules to allow its work in sub - regions.
- On the first Board meeting held in Antigua Guatemala on August 2nd and 3rd 2007, it was approved the signing and implementation of the OLADE- CENTRAL AMERICA office which headquarters are on Guatemala, Trinidad & Tobago was included as an observer and its on mind the possible accession to the initiative of other countries in the Caribbean.
- The Steering Committee N0.63 who met in Boca Chica, Dominican Republic on May 29th, 2008 as of resolution 63/R/2 recommended encouraging Caribbean countries to actively participate in OLADE thus, invitation letters were sent to become part as Member Countries to: Belize, Dominica, Bahamas, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent, and Saint Kitts, Antigua and Barbuda
- At the Steering Committee meeting No. 64 and according to resolution No. R/13/64 it was instructed the possibility of creating a sub- regional office in the Caribbean, and to initiate steps for consulting with the Ministers so the Caribbean countries can integrate more actively in OLADE and achieve greater participation.
- Trinidad and Tobago through its Minister of Energy and Energy Industries as president of the Bureau of Energy CARICOM committed to make a ministerial query in order to evaluate the possibility of creating the sub-regional offices and the establishment of their host country. In addition, it was shown the support of the Ministers of Suriname and Guyana and the support for the creation of a sub-regional office of the Caribbean, repeatedly manifested by representatives of CODI in Cuba, Jamaica and Dominican Republic
